Kaheesha Dance

About Kaheesha

 (Aka Katherine Soutar- Caddick)

I started Belly dancing in 2002, getting seriously bitten by the bug when my friend Fiona (also now a teacher!) took me to my first class.. I was smitten and attended regular classes in Shrewsbury with Lindsey Salomon (who taught me an enormous amount, thankyou Lindsey...) until 2006.

since then I have attended numerous workshops and festivals, Including every Jewel of Yorkshire weekend, the Fantasia festival in London (4 times) and the JWAAD Summer school (it will be my 6th time this year) I no longer have a regular teacher in Shropshire so attend as many events as possible and fit in private classes whenever I can. I also spend several hours every week dancing and working on my technique. I am interested in European styles (Greek) as well as Egyptian (particularly Saiidi and Baladi) and am currently also teaching Khaleeji (gulf style) in my choreography class

I have the JWAAD foundation certificate in safe teaching and hope to complete the Diploma course in the future . I also have appropriate insurance cover and am CRB checked.

I organise workshops locally to give myself and my students access to different teachers and styles, I have hosted Michelle Pender, Madeleine Mitchell and Shona Hagan and had a fantastic day with Anne Kingston last November. These workshops are followed by a Hafla at which our guest teacher performs which is a great way to end the day.

I am available to perform at events and private parties, please contact me for details (no male only events though please)

I also perform with my dance groups Khalila and Kinza at Haflas and local events.

I have also worked as a freelance Illlustrator since 1991 and have my own freelance Illustration buisness called Dancing cat designs
